Hello friends! My name is Zach Gilbert, and I am a junior at the University of Nebraska – Omaha. I am majoring in Secondary English Language Arts Education, but I am also pursuing a minor in Communication Studies! I have long been fascinated by English, as I have always absolutely adored reading and writing, creating my own stories ever since I can remember. My true ultimate goal in life is to be a screenwriter, as I have an additional obsession for the world of cinema, but I’m equally drawn to the idea of educating youngsters on the virtues of English and the language arts as well!
In my free time, you can frequently find me at a movie theater (I regularly see about 200 movies in the theaters per year), writing reviews on a personal blog, reading the latest page-turners, or drafting up my own stories! I also enjoy spending times with friends and family as well as running to alleviate school related stress.
I’m a passionate individual, as I hold very strong beliefs about various social causes, and I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I love being an active voice in our communities, and I greatly value the importance of free speech among our populace (something that comes in handy when explaining the importance of language arts skills and literacy!)
I’m looking forward to learning more about digital environments this semester, as, even though I’ve been raised in the age of technology, I know there’s so much more for me to discover! Here’s to a great year!
